halka art project is an independent organisation which is initiated in May 2011. It focuses on the production, discourse and presentation of contemporary art and culture. halka art project provides support, resources and inspiration for intellectual and artistic process, production and the sharing of knowledge. halka art project initiates, curates and develops art projects at home and abroad. halka art project is an open platform which gathers individuals with different expertise and backgrounds committed to contribute to the enrichment of intellectual and artistic circles, professional collaborations and public interactions. halka art project is not only a residency for artists and theorists and an exhibition / performance space, but a gathering place, a dialogue and a meeting space. halka art project believes in the the transformational power of art and that it must be available and reachable for everyone. halka art project choses to have a premise on the Asian Side of İstanbul. The neighbourhood is called Moda. It is a vibrant environment at the centre of Kadıköy. halka art project activates in a three floor historical building and provides facilities that the production and display of art necessitate: a working studio, a perfomance/exhibition space along with a recreational small garden.
