halka art project's guest artists Carla Chaim and Victor Leguy give information about their exhibition "Aboutime" which will be at Kabine Nadire on 10 August 2012:

"halka art project revolutionized us. Being in an out of the ordinary country and introduced to its singular culture encouraged us to experience our work in a new and exceptional way. We were able to access some different layers and connecting others within ourselves.

Earlier, based in the new perspective we were about to be living, we knew The Residence would be a turning point in our process. Both of us came to the Artistic Residency to develop our personal works and, for the first time, perform together in collaborative works.
We chose Istanbul on behalf of its unique potential in artistic thinking. We are not trying to represent or have an external view of the marvelous turkish culture, instead, being part of it, absorbing and translating it to our work.Additionally, another surprising point was the pleasant reaction of sharing studios and thoughts. The exchange among our two minds was meaningful to our production. In the studio the time seemed to fly.
Our works are based on drawing, still it is thought to walk though different medias, such as video and installation. In the exhibition, you may see drawings tooled with our particular way of working, Chaim, - with oil bars on japanese paper - and Leguy’s drawings with graphite on paper, brought to this rich culture. Both personal and collaborative works were developed in these past weeks when we experienced and lived in Istanbul. The video is the link piece between both works. Lastly, we could surely state this experience was a genuine “diving” on Turkish culture and religion."
